Terms of use
Using Poftim
Poftim moves a file between two devices without storing it anywhere in between. Sending files is free and needs no account. There is one paid subscription, Poftim+, described separately below. Using the service means accepting what is set out here.
The free service needs no account and nothing to sign, so these terms take effect simply by using poftim.app. Buying Poftim+ also creates an account, and the subscription terms below then apply in addition. They sit alongside the privacy notice, which explains what the service receives, and the cancellation and refunds page.
Who you are dealing with
The supplier, and the seller
Poftim provides the Poftim software service and is the supplier of it. Paid orders for Poftim+ are processed by Paddle.com, our authorised reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payments, subscription billing, applicable taxes, refunds and payment-related customer support.
So billing, tax and refunds are handled by Paddle, and the receipt for a subscription comes from Paddle rather than from us. Paddle presents the transaction details required in your country as part of checkout. What Poftim+ includes, and the terms on which the service itself is provided, are set out on this page and on the pricing page.
General correspondence, including questions about these terms, reaches us at hello@poftim.app or through the contact form. Security reports have their own disclosure policy and should go there instead.
Acceptable use
What you are responsible for
Transfers are encrypted end to end, which means we cannot see what passes through and cannot moderate it. Responsibility for what you send rests entirely with you.
- You have the right to send what you sendRequired
- You are sending it to a device you intend to reachRequired
- No unlawful material, and no malicious softwareRequired
- No use that harms, harasses or deceives another personRequired
- No attempt to disrupt, overload or break into the serviceRequired
Security researchers are welcome, within the boundaries set out in the vulnerability disclosure policy. That policy describes a reporting channel; it is not permission to access data or systems you do not own.
The service
What is and is not promised
Poftim is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. The free service carries no guarantee of availability, transfer speed, capacity or continued existence, and it may be changed or withdrawn at any time. What the free service does today is described on the pricing page; that is a description rather than a promise that it will never change, and any change is published before it takes effect.
Where you have paid for Poftim+, this exclusion does not displace the rights you have as a consumer. Liability for failing to supply what was paid for is not excluded, and nothing here affects a statutory remedy available to you.
A transfer depends on both devices, both networks and the browsers involved. Connections fail, pages get closed, phones sleep and networks refuse direct routes. Nothing is stored on our side, so an interrupted transfer cannot be resumed from a server copy — it has to be started again.
Received files are not scanned for malware, because they cannot be read. Treat an incoming file exactly as you would one arriving by any other route, and be particularly careful with anything that can run when it is opened.
Poftim+
The paid subscription
Poftim+ is an optional subscription that lets your own devices reconnect without scanning a code each time. It does not change how transfers are encrypted, how large they may be, or how fast they run. What it includes and what it costs is on the pricing page.
Who you are buying from
Paddle, as set out above. It is the seller on the transaction: it takes the payment, issues the receipt, collects any sales tax or VAT, and applies its own buyer terms and refund policy alongside the consumer law of your country. Payment details are given to Paddle and are never received by us.
Billing and renewal
A subscription renews automatically for the same period until cancelled. The amount and the renewal date are shown before you buy and on your account page. Prices may change, but never for a period already paid for, and a change is notified before it applies to you.
Cancelling
You may cancel at any time from your account page, with no notice period and no fee. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and access continues to the end of the period already paid for. Cancelling does not by itself refund the current period. Refunds are handled by Paddle, and where one is granted the access it paid for ends with it. This is set out in full on the cancellation and refunds page.
Your account
An account exists only to hold a subscription and the devices it covers. You are responsible for the email address on it and for the devices you authorise. You may download a copy of the data held about you, or delete the account, from the account page. Deleting an account with an active subscription cancels the renewal as part of the same action, so a deleted account never leaves a subscription billing behind it.
If Poftim+ is withdrawn
If the subscription is discontinued, payments stop and subscribers are told. Access already paid for will not be removed without a proportionate refund of the unused period.
Liability
Limits
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss of data, loss of profit, business interruption, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from using — or being unable to use — Poftim. Keep your own copy of anything that matters until you have confirmed it arrived.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you use Poftim as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Changes and law
Keeping this current
These terms may be revised. The version published here is the one that applies, and continuing to use the service after a change means accepting it. Material changes to how the service handles data are reflected in the privacy notice as well.
Poftim is operated from Romania, and these terms are governed by Romanian law with the courts of Romania having jurisdiction. The service is available worldwide; naming one governing law does not change that. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this clause does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live.
Paid Poftim+ orders are processed by Paddle as authorised reseller and Merchant of Record, under Paddle's own buyer terms, which apply to the payment, tax and refund of that order.
Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact form.
